The Magician With The Skills Of Houdini
The other night I was witness to the most impressive demonstration of illusions I've ever seen. My friends and I got some tickets to this magic show. It was through a friend of a friend, or somebody's work or something.
The only other time I'd actually seen a magician that wasn't on TV was at my friends Confirmation party. It was in junior high school, and they had this magician come. He was OK, he did some card tricks, and pulled some coins out of my friend's ears. Nothing out of the ordinary.
The performance we were lucky enough to see the other night was on a completely different level of skill. This guy did some of the most bizarre tricks I've ever heard of. The entire time the crowd was spellbound. Nobody was even talking to each other at their tables. They were just staring at this guy. It made me really want to learn magic tricks.
The first thing he did were these pseudo psychic tricks. He started guessing peoples ages, and weights. Basic stuff. Just to get the crowd warmed up. Then he started doing harder stuff, like guessing peoples drivers license numbers and stuff.
After he did his "warm up" tricks, he started walking around the crowd. He would walk up to somebody's table, and talk to them. Then he would make point to reach in and either shake their hand, or put his hand their shoulder. Then walked back onto the stage, and started telling us about his childhood. While he was doing that, these people, whom he touched, started walking up to the stage like zombies. Like they were under his complete control.
Then these people started guessing peoples information. Even the names of spouses and children. It was downright spooky, but it was also the best magic show I've ever seen. I'd forgotten how good a magic show can be. If you haven't seen one lately, you should go and check one out.
